PA Governor's Paintings
Removal and transportation of all 55 portraits of Pennsylvania's Governors required the coordination of a multi-phase program which involved documentation and conservation of several portraits at a time, within Albert Michaels' conservation facilities.
Each portrait underwent testing to determine the appropriate method of conservation, which included disassembly, damage repair, lining, conservation cleaning, and isolation of the original painting, infilling and painting at areas of loss, and final varnishing. Photo documentation of each procedure employed black and while, color slide, and print and digital formats.
